DAY 35MM MULTISCREEN , THE NEXT MINI DV !!

Late last
year, I was in Winnipeg shooting a 35mm multiscreen
production for Manitoba Lotteries. The show opened
a month ago and involves a multi media theatre which
looks at the history of Manitoba. It uses 5 screens,
as well as 3D film, animatronics, Peppers ghost
illusion, and seats which are motion activated.
We were filming 400 children singing in front of
the Manitoba Legislative Building with the Iwerks
360 degree Circlevision mount with 5 Arri 3s (in
360 mode it uses 9 cameras). The rig weighed 650
pounds! The next day I was back in Toronto shooting
with a three pound Mini DV Sony camera for Discovery
Channel's "Exhibit A". This might seem
like quite a comedown, but I enjoy the freedom of
movement this small camera allows. Of course, all
my lighting skills and shooting disciplines which
I apply to Mini DV, come from my many years experience
shooting with motion picture film.
